Day 1 On arrival in Auckland, ‘The City of Sails', seat in coach passengers will be met by our local representative and privately transferred to your hotel. Self drive clients will collect your rental car at the airport and drive to your hotel.
Day 2
Travel south through the Waikato region to Waitomo for a guided tour of the glowworm caves. This afternoon, continue to Rotorua via the Hobbiton Movie Set for a guided tour of this world-class attraction.
Day 3
Visit Te Puia Thermal Reserve to witness bubbling mud pools and geysers before continuing to the Agrodome for an entertaining farm show. Explore Rainbow Springs, home to trout and native wildlife. The afternoon is free for relaxation or optional sightseeing at your own pace.
Day 4
Travel from Rotorua to Lake Taupo, renowned for its scenic beauty and vast volcanic lake. Continue south through the dramatic landscapes of the Central Plateau, passing rugged terrain and national parks, before arriving in Wellington, New Zealand’s vibrant capital city known for its culture, cuisine, and waterfront charm.
Day 5
Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Wellington, taking in its iconic landmarks and harbourside views, followed by a guided visit to Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand. The afternoon is free for independent exploration, offering time to discover the city’s culture, cafés, and waterfront attractions.
Day 6
Journey across Cook Strait, separating New Zealand’s North and South Islands, and sail through the stunning Marlborough Sounds with their clear waters and forested hills before arriving in Picton. Continue south, passing Blenheim and the coastal town of Kaikoura, to reach Christchurch, the renowned ‘Garden City.’
Day 7
Travel south across the expansive Canterbury Plains to reach Dunedin, a city with rich Scottish heritage and elegant Victorian architecture. Known for its vibrant student culture as home to Otago University, Dunedin also offers access to unique wildlife encounters along the rugged Otago Peninsula.
Day 8
This morning is free to enjoy optional activities in Dunedin. In the afternoon, depart inland through Central Otago, passing the historic towns of Lawrence and Clyde before reaching Cromwell. Continue through the dramatic Kawarau Gorge, arriving in Queenstown in the early evening, surrounded by alpine scenery and adventure opportunities.
Day 9
Enjoy a full free day to discover Queenstown at your own pace, with a wide range of optional activities available. From bungy jumping, jet boating and white-water rafting to scenic gondola rides and more, there are experiences for every interest. Optional activities are not included in the tour price.
Day 10
Depart Queenstown and travel past Lake Wanaka before crossing the historic Haast Pass, gateway to the World Heritage-listed Westland National Park. Continue along the scenic West Coast, passing mountains, forests and lakes, to reach the glacier region of Franz Josef and Fox. Self-drive travellers receive included entry to the Glacier Hot Pools.
Day 11
Travel north to Greymouth and board the world-famous TranzAlpine train (seat-in-coach passengers only). Journey through lush beech forests and past the alpine village of Arthur’s Pass, crossing the dramatic Southern Alps before continuing across the Canterbury Plains to arrive in Christchurch.
Day 12
Your journey concludes today with either a departure transfer or the return of your rental vehicle. Take time to reflect on the memorable experiences and stunning landscapes you’ve encountered throughout your holiday.
